Role Description

This is a full-time, hybrid role located in the City of Cape Town for a Lead Engineer / Pod Technical Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a technical team, overseeing software development projects, ensuring optimal engineering practices, and enhancing project delivery efficiencies. They will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives, manage project timelines, guide technical decision-making, and ensure delivery of high-quality software.

Responsibilities

- Own technical delivery for the pod

- Guide architectural decisions aligned to business outcomes

- Partner closely with Product Leads on scope and trade-offs

- Ensure technical risks are visible, understood, and managed

- Strong alignment between engineering decisions and product outcomes

- Clear escalation judgment and decision maturity

- Ability to keep teams focused under pressure

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent depth of experience

- Ongoing professional development in architecture, system design, or leadership expected

Experience

- 7–10+ years engineering experience

- Prior experience as tech lead, staff engineer, or equivalent

- Direct responsibility for technical delivery outcomes

- Client-facing or high-accountability environment experience
