Lead Fullstack Engineer

Overview

This is a senior-most individual contributor role within a rapidly scaling, data-intensive consumer technology organisation operating at global scale. The company builds high-traffic, customer-facing platforms used by tens of millions of users and processes hundreds of thousands of real-time events per second. The role sits within a newly expanded NYC engineering hub and plays a central role in shaping the company's next-generation platform architecture. You will operate as a technical leader across frontend and backend systems, driving modernisation, AI adoption, and engineering best practices in a fast-moving, low-bureaucracy environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead across fullstack initiatives, setting architectural direction and engineering standards
• Partner with engineering leadership and product stakeholders to define platform strategy and execution
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, server-rendered applications using modern TypeScript frameworks
• Drive migration away from legacy systems toward modular, maintainable, and testable architectures
• Champion the integration of generative AI into software development workflows, including agent-driven coding and review
• Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with AI-assisted development in production systems
• Contribute to system design documentation, specifications, and long-term platform roadmap
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and code reviews

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10 - 15 years of professional software engineering experience with significant fullstack ownership
• Advanced TypeScript expertise across frontend and backend systems
• Strong experience with server-side rendering frameworks (e.g. Remix, NestJS, Next-style architectures)
• Production experience running systems on Kubernetes
• Proven technical leadership in complex, high-scale environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and modern engineering workflows
