Your Role
As a Lead Hardware Design Engineer, you will take charge of designing and developing cutting-edge 100G/200G/400G photonics integrated circuits (ICs). From early architecture stages to laboratory validation, your leadership will influence product direction, mentor fellow engineers, and help maintain Cisco's position at the forefront of optical networking innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and verification of advanced high-speed mixed-signal and photonics circuits.
- Establish and document chip-level specifications and thorough verification plans.
- Collaborate effectively with teams across optical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Oversee lab validation, debugging, and yield enhancement activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 4 years; PhD with 1 year; or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design for high-speed applications.
- Hands-on lab validation and test experience using high-speed equipment.
- Proficiency in Python or C for automation and analysis tasks.
- Expertise in design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and Calibre.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of photonics and high-speed data path circuitry (modulators, TIAs, PLLs, ADCs/DACs, CDR).
- Familiarity with industry standards including IEEE 802.3, QSFP, OSFP, and QSFP-DD.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and making crucial design decisions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Salary Range
The starting salary range for this position is $130,600.00 to $182,200.00, excluding incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Actual compensation may vary based on hiring location, market conditions, and individual qualifications.
