Our client, a major player in the mining and resource extraction industry, is seeking a highly experienced Lead Industrial Process Engineer to oversee and optimize operations at their facility in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA. This critical role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to improve efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance across all industrial processes. The successful candidate will have a strong background in process design, simulation, and implementation within large-scale industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor process improvements to enhance production efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Lead the design and commissioning of new industrial processes and equipment, ensuring alignment with project goals and budget constraints.
• Conduct detailed process analysis, identify bottlenecks, and develop data-driven solutions.
• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of process control systems and instrumentation.
• Ensure all operations adhere to strict safety regulations and environmental standards, promoting a culture of safety excellence.
• Manage a team of process engineers and technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and R&D, to achieve operational objectives.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process documentation for management review.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in industrial engineering technologies and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Optimize resource utilization, including energy, water, and raw materials.
• Develop and manage budgets for process improvement projects and operational expenditures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in industrial process engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Proven expertise in process design, optimization, simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Arena), and statistical analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial safety protocols (e.g., HAZOP) and environmental regulations.
• Strong project management skills, with experience managing large-scale industrial projects.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze complex data and make sound engineering decisions.
• Proficiency in CAD software and process P&ID development.
• Experience in the mining, chemical, or heavy manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.
• Valid professional engineer registration is an advantage.
