What awaits you

• You will develop and operate highly scalable Java applications with Apache Kafka for leading financial institutions and other significant players in the German financial market.
• As a technical lead, you will take responsibility for the conception and implementation of event-driven microservices architectures in the depot and securities environment.
• You will modernize legacy systems (HOST/COBOL) by building future-proof cloud-native solutions with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
• In close collaboration with business departments, product owners, and architects, you will shape the digital transformation of critical financial processes – from cash management and securities transactions to order processing.
• You will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (BaFin, MiFID II) and the highest security and compliance standards.
• Together with cross-functional teams, you will drive innovative solutions forward: from proof of concept to the productive scaling of millions of transactions daily.
• You will always keep an eye on performance, stability, availability, and data integrity – especially in highly regulated Financial Services environments.
• You will contribute your expertise in code reviews, pair programming, and as a mentor for junior and mid-level developers.

What we expect from you

Personal Background:

• You have a completed degree in computer science (or business informatics) or a degree in a comparable field. However, other specializations can also be interesting and suitable for us!

Technical Expertise:

• You have several years of Java experience (11, ideally 17/21) with Spring Boot/Cloud, comprehensive Kafka expertise (Streams, Connect, Schema Registry, Avro/Protobuf, highly available clusters), and profound knowledge in microservices as well as Event-Driven and Domain-Driven Design.
• Furthermore, you have experience with REST, Graph QL, and asynchronous communication patterns; ideally, you also have experience with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab, Jenkins, ArgoCD).

Industry Experience:

• You have already gained experience in the Financial Services sector – ideally in the depot, securities, or payment transaction environment.
• You also understand business contexts such as order routing, settlement, corporate actions, cash management, or fund accounting and are familiar with the regulatory requirements of the banking sector (BaFin regulations, compliance, audit trails).
• Ideally, you have already worked with system platforms like WP3, OSPlus, or SAP Banking Services or have modernized legacy systems.

Technical Versatility:

• You master tools and technologies such as Maven/Gradle, Git, Intelli J IDEA, Kafka, Postgre SQL/Oracle, Mongo DB and know how to use them in project work.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development, JUnit, Testcontainers, and performance testing (JMeter, Gatling) as well as knowledge of frontend technologies are a plus.
