documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is seeking a Lead Marketing Specialist (m/f/d) for documenta 16 in Kassel.
This is a full-time position, limited until December 31, 2027.
documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a non-profit organization owned and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse. It also receives financial support from the German Federal Cultural Foundation. The non-profit organization is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, the Fridericianum, the documenta Archive—which is being expanded into the documenta Institute—and the documenta Hall.
We are looking for a well-organized and sales-oriented individual who would like to join the documenta team.

Lead Marketing (m/f/d)
Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy in close coordination with the communications director and senior management
- Management of the marketing budget, including financial oversight
- Conception, coordination, and evaluation of all analog and digital marketing activities
- Management and oversight of external service providers, as well as collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Editing, production, and distribution of all marketing materials (print, digital, social media, video, merchandise, etc.)
- Expanding and maintaining marketing and media partnerships, as well as managing ticketing and sales partners
- Ensuring corporate design consistency across all channels
- Incorporating sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion into all marketing initiatives
Qualifications
- A college degree or equivalent qualification in marketing, communications, or cultural management
- Several years of professional experience in marketing, preferably in the cultural sector or in international contexts
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing digital and analog marketing strategies
- Experience with digital campaign formats, analytics, and reporting tools
- Strong conceptual and organizational skills
- Leadership skills, ability to work in a team, intercultural awareness, and a high degree of personal responsibility
- Sensitivity and a creative drive toward sustainable, inclusive, and accessible communication formats
- Enjoyment of process-oriented, collaborative work as part of a large, international team
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
About the Role
We are offering you an interesting and responsible position on an international team in the arts and culture sector.
Your weekly work schedule is 40 hours. The job is based in Kassel.
