About the Role
You will lead large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from manager. You will coach, review and delegate work to lower-level professionals. In this role you will assist in the development of operational and implementation plans for areas of assigned responsibilities. You will identify continuous improvement/automation activities, research new technologies and their applicability, and develop innovative solutions to manufacturing issues. You will determine the method of research for the planning, design development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. You will support relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- BSME
- 50-65+% travel at all times
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field; or 6 years and a master's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Inventor
- Proficiency in Machine Design, specifically US Standard (ANSI & NFPA), PFMEA Analysis, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Design, Variable Frequency Drives, Servos, Gearboxes, Conveyors
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in Pressure vessels
- Experience in Tire Uniformity
- Experience in ASRS
- Experience in Robotics
- Experience in AGVs
About the Team and Company Culture
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be part of our Corporate Engineering function, otherwise known as Process Systems Development (PSD). The PSD team works cross-functionally with safety, production, and plant engineering across our tire manufacturing site locations in North, Central and South America. We are seeking candidates that can communicate, collaborate, and effectively partner with our teammates from various backgrounds and skillsets to produce excellent business results. The Lead Mechanical Engineering position researches, plans, designs and develops, and implements/installs mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. A Lead Professional position is a recognized subject matter expert in a job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Problems faced are difficult and often complex. Requires periodic communication and interaction with leadership. 6 - 10+ years of design and manufacturing engineering experiences.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate: $120k/yr. on w2
- Target annual bonus of 15%

Location Details
The ideal candidate will be located in Nashville, TN. However, we are open to the right individual working remotely within a 1 hour drive of the plants listed (Aiken, SC, US; Nashville, TN, US; Raleigh, NC, US).
