Our client, a global leader in telecommunications infrastructure, is seeking an experienced and strategic Lead Network Security Engineer to join their cutting‑edge, fully remote team. This senior role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security posture of our extensive network operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep expertise in network security principles, advanced threat detection, and incident response, coupled with a strong understanding of telecommunications technologies. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of advanced network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and WAFs, across a complex telecommunications network.
- Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures to protect against evolving threats.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and remediate potential risks.
- Manage and monitor security infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and compliance.
- Develop and execute incident response plans, leading investigations into security breaches and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with network operations and engineering teams to integrate security best practices into all stages of network design and deployment.
- Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and trends, and provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Mentor and guide junior security engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and security standards.
- Architect secure solutions for cloud environments and hybrid networks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in network security engineering, with a focus on telecommunications environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise‑level security solutions (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet).
- In‑depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network segmentation.
- Experience with SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and threat intelligence platforms.
- Strong understanding of cryptography, vulnerability management, and incident response methodologies.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCIE Security, or GIAC are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead projects and mentor technical staff in a remote setting.
- Experience with scripting and automation for security tasks is a plus.
