About
Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Platform / Full Stack Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of enterprise API and cloud-native platform ecosystems. This is a 6-month hybrid contract opportunity. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing Kubernetes-based platforms (EKS), driving API gateway transformation using Kong Konnect, and leading the consolidation of integration services into modern API management solutions. This role requires strong expertise in platform engineering, DevOps, Kubernetes, AWS, and API management within enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and optimisation of enterprise platform and API solutions
- Operate and optimise production Kubernetes (EKS) environments
- Manage and evolve Kong Konnect API gateway platforms
- Drive APIOps practices using decK, OpenAPI, Spectral, and GitOps pipelines
- Lead MuleSoft Anypoint Platform consolidation initiatives
- Implement CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and container security best practices
- Ensure platform security, compliance, observability, and performance optimisation
- Collaborate with architecture, security, engineering, and product teams
- Mentor engineers and drive engineering best practices
- Lead agile delivery across Run and Change initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on production Kubernetes / EKS experience
- 4+ years of experience within regulated industries (banking, insurance, or healthcare)
- Strong platform engineering, DevOps, and API management background
- Expert-level Kubernetes / EKS experience
- Strong AWS experience (EKS, IAM, KMS, VPC)
- Production experience with Kong Konnect / Kong Gateway
- Production experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Strong CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
- Strong GitOps experience using Argo CD and/or Flux
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and New Relic
- Strong container security experience using tools such as Trivy, Cosign, Falco, OPA, and Kyverno
Mandatory Certifications (Non-Negotiable)
All certifications must be active:
- KCNA
- KCSA
- CKAD
- CKA
- CKS
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
Advantageous Skills
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional
- Kong and/or MuleSoft certifications
- AI/LLM workload experience (AWS Bedrock, RAG, vector databases, MCP)
- Service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Cilium)
- Multi-cloud exposure (Azure / GCP)
