Lead Process Design Engineer (Remote)

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Process Design Engineer to spearhead their engineering efforts in a fully remote capacity. This senior role will be instrumental in the conceptualization, design, and optimization of complex industrial processes. You will lead a talented team of engineers, guiding them through the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and preliminary design to detailed engineering and handover. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that all designs are safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and economically viable. You will be responsible for developing process simulations, heat and mass balance calculations, PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and equipment specifications.

As a Lead Engineer, you will provide technical direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. You will conduct rigorous design reviews, hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and other risk assessments to ensure the integrity and safety of the designed processes. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, project management, procurement, and construction teams will be essential, requiring strong communication and leadership skills. You will also be involved in vendor selection, equipment procurement, and providing technical support during the construction and commissioning phases, all managed remotely. The ability to effectively manage remote teams and complex projects using advanced digital collaboration tools is a must.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process design engineering, including significant experience in a leadership or supervisory role. A proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale industrial projects is essential. You should have extensive experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and a deep understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required. You must be an excellent communicator, capable of articulating complex technical information to diverse audiences and motivating your team.
