We are excited to expand our team and are looking for a Lead Product Designer for AI and Automation to spearhead the design strategy for our innovative AI and Automation team. By joining our user experience team, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership, product management, engineering, and data science professionals. You will be responsible for crafting the vision and implementation of AI solutions and automation frameworks within the PagerDuty Operations Cloud, ensuring our AI capabilities are not only user‑friendly but also trustworthy and transformative for technical operations teams. Key Responsibilities
- Define and champion the design vision for PagerDuty's AI and automation features, including AI agents.
- Lead collaborative efforts with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and data scientists to translate intricate AI capabilities into user‑friendly experiences.
- Develop design principles and patterns that promote transparency, explainability, and user control, fostering trust in autonomous systems.
- Mentor fellow designers within the organization, sharing AI/UX best practices and nurturing a culture of creativity and excellence.
- Conduct strategic research to comprehend how technical teams adopt and trust AI recommendations, automation, and insights in critical contexts.
- Collaborate with product leadership to influence the AI and automation roadmap, balancing innovation and user needs.
- Represent design insights in executive discussions and contribute to the company‑wide AI strategy.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or interaction design, with a focus on complex technical products.
- 3+ years of experience in designing AI/ML products, intelligent systems, automation platforms, or data‑driven applications.
- A strong history of leading design strategies and influencing product direction.
- A robust portfolio showcasing expertise in AI/UX, conversational interfaces, automation design, or intelligent agent user experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing for developer tools, DevOps platforms, or technical operation products.
- A deep understanding of AI/ML concepts such as LLMs, generative AI, predictive models, and agentic systems.
- A demonstrated ability to establish scalable design systems, frameworks, or principles across product teams.
- Proven thought leadership through speaking, writing, or contributions to the design community.
- Experience in high‑growth SaaS or enterprise software companies with complex technical audiences.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is 161,000 – 270,600 USD. This role may also offer bonus opportunities, commissions, equity, and additional benefits.
Our salary ranges are determined based on role, level, and location, reflecting the minimum and maximum base salary we anticipate paying new hires. Individual compensation is based on several factors, including market location, relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
