About the role
Our client, a prominent entity in the Beauty & Wellness industry, is seeking a talented and innovative Lead Product Developer to be based in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti, NG . This role is essential for driving the creation of new and exciting cosmetic products, from concept to market launch. The Lead Product Developer will work closely with R&D, marketing, and regulatory teams to ensure product quality, efficacy, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities: Leading the product development process for a range of cosmetic products, from ideation to final formulation and manufacturing. Collaborating with the marketing team to understand market trends, consumer needs, and product requirements. Formulating new cosmetic products, ensuring stability, efficacy, and safety. Conducting product testing and performance evaluations, including stability, compatibility, and user trials. Working with suppliers to source high-quality raw materials and ingredients. Ensuring all product development activities comply with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines (e.g., NAFDAC). Troubleshooting and resolving formulation or manufacturing issues during the development process. Preparing detailed technical documentation, including formulation reports and specifications. Managing project timelines and deliverables for product development initiatives. Staying current with advancements in cosmetic science, ingredients, and formulation techniques. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior formulators and lab technicians. Collaborating with the manufacturing team to ensure successful scale-up of products from lab to production. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 6 years of experience in cosmetic product formulation and development. Deep understanding of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and formulation principles. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical methods relevant to cosmetic testing. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for cosmetic products in Nigeria. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Effective communication and teamwork skills. A keen eye for detail and a passion for beauty and wellness trends. Experience in skincare, haircare, or color cosmetics is highly desirable.
