About the Role
Our client, a major player in the infrastructure development sector, is seeking an accomplished Lead Project Manager to spearhead critical projects in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, NG. This demanding role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing large‑scale construction and engineering projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of project management, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
- Develop detailed project plans, scope, budgets, and timelines, and secure necessary approvals.
- Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, consultants, and site personnel.
- Manage project risks, issues, and changes effectively, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure strict adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and building codes.
- Coordinate with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
- Procure and manage resources, including materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations on project sites.
- Resolve conflicts and facilitate effective communication among all project participants.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Conduct post‑project evaluations and identify lessons learned for future projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years leading large‑scale infrastructure or construction projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- In‑depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile).
- Strong leadership, team‑building, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
- PMP certification or equivalent is strongly required.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
