About the role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Robotics Engineer to spearhead the development of autonomous systems. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be instrumental in designing, prototyping, and implementing advanced robotic solutions, driving our clients' vision for automated operations forward. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of robotics, control systems, AI, and software development, coupled with a passion for tackling complex engineering challenges. You will lead a team of talented engineers, guiding them through the entire product development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex robotic systems and autonomous navigation algorithms. Manage and mentor a team of robotics engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance. Oversee the integration of hardware components, sensors, actuators, and control systems. Develop and refine sophisticated algorithms for perception, planning, and control in dynamic environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI/ML specialists, software developers, and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless system integration. Conduct thorough testing, validation, and debugging of robotic systems to ensure reliability and performance. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, AI, and automation technologies. Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap planning for future robotic products. Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively within a remote work structure. Author technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals. Champion best practices in software development, version control, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for robotic systems. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Extensive experience (5+ years) in robotics engineering, with a strong focus on autonomous systems. Proven leadership experience, managing engineering teams and projects. Deep expertise in robot operating systems (ROS), C++, Python, and related programming languages. Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, control theory, computer vision, and machine learning as applied to robotics. Experience with sensor fusion, SLAM, path planning, and motion control. Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, CoppeliaSim) and hardware platforms. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective in a remote team setting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems is a plus.
