Our client, a prominent player in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Site Engineer for a major project in **Benin City, Edo, NG**. This critical role demands a leader with a strong technical background, exceptional project management capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget. The Lead Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities: Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, including civil, structural, and mechanical works. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure construction meets project requirements. Develop and implement detailed construction schedules, coordinating with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors. Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions promptly. Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Conduct regular site inspections to check the quality of workmanship and materials used. Manage site resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, ensuring efficient utilization. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project stakeholders. Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities to address project-related matters. Oversee the testing and commissioning of completed works. Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, incident reports, and inventory. Lead and mentor a team of site engineers and supervisors, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Implement and enforce strict safety protocols on site to prevent accidents and injuries. Manage variations and claims, ensuring proper documentation and resolution. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential site challenges. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is highly desirable. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in construction site management, with at least 3 years in a lead role. Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of construction law, contracts, and dispute resolution. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
