Role Summary
Join our team as a Lead Site Reliability Engineer specializing in Database Management, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the management and reliability of Oracle databases and Exadata infrastructure. Your expertise will be vital in complex issue investigation, capacity management, scripting, as well as driving automation and operational improvements. Your responsibilities will include triaging alerts, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and enhancing the reliability and scalability of our systems. Additionally, you'll be involved in exciting roadmap initiatives, such as migrations to Oracle Cloud (OCI) and Oracle Autonomous Database.
Location / Work Authorization / Clearance
The role is based in the United States. U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements. Please note that no visa sponsorship is available, and you must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of Oracle databases and Exadata (Production and Non-Production) including incident response and provide on-call support as necessary.
- Triage database alerts and issues; conduct thorough troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage capacity, analyze performance, and implement reliability enhancements for database platforms.
- Maintain and support Non-Production and Production Standby environments along with replication/high availability technologies (e.g., Data Guard; GoldenGate when applicable).
- Develop and refine automation, tooling, and scripts to minimize manual efforts and ensure operational consistency.
- Create and update documentation including runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Define and enhance in-house standards, policies, and best practices in line with industry standards, cyber requirements, and Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) principles.
- Guide and mentor your teammates while facilitating effective communication with leadership, clients, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Contribute to roadmap projects, including planning and executing migrations for OCI and Oracle Autonomous Database.

- Use AI-assisted techniques/tools to enhance productivity and quality (e.g., faster prototyping, improved test coverage, and better documentation).
- Apply an AI-first mindset to your daily tasks, including code suggestions, test creation/maintenance, and observability improvements.
- Adhere to enterprise security and privacy requirements when utilizing AI tools (e.g., safeguarding sensitive data, following approved workflows).
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, Site Reliability Engineer, or Oracle Database Architect.
- 6+ years of experience managing scalable on-prem and/or cloud-native distributed systems.
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Effective collaboration in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong understanding of core Computer Science concepts.
- Proficient in PL/SQL and experienced in Python, Perl, and/or Shell scripting.
- Experience supporting production databases on Exadata.
Core Skills
- Oracle Database administration and operations.
- Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM & RAC.
- Understanding of Oracle Cloud (OCI) fundamentals (migration and/or operations).
- Proficient in scripting/automation (PL/SQL, Shell, Python/Perl).
- Knowledge of observability and operational readiness (monitoring/alerting, runbooks, incident response).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) and Exadata best practices.
- Experience with high availability & replication technologies (e.g., Data Guard, GoldenGate).
- Advanced skills in scripting/coding and automation engineering (Shell/Perl/Python).
- Knowledge of advanced data compression techniques.
- Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and secure operations practices.
- Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database.

Salary and Benefits
The hiring range is set between $86,400 and $199,500 per annum, with eligibility for bonuses and equity.
