As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, coding, and enhancing software applications according to business needs and platform requirements. Your strategic technical guidance and hands-on expertise will be invaluable as you work alongside multiple functional teams. Recognized as a subject matter expert, you'll influence enterprise-wide platforms and apply your advanced technical knowledge to deliver complex, high-impact initiatives in a regulated environment.

This position serves as a hands-on technical authority for our enterprise Appian platform, supporting multiple business initiatives. You'll standardize engineering quality, development practices, and platform governance while actively designing and developing software solutions across concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise software solutions using Appian low-code capabilities, including process models, SAIL interfaces, record types, expression rules, and reusable components.
• Utilize your advanced expertise in Appian platform configuration, security models, and performance optimization to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Develop and support Appian integrations using RESTful services, APIs, and enterprise data sources.
• Contribute to Appian-based workflow and case management solutions for multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement Appian platform features and upgrades to enhance scalability, reliability, and developer efficiency.
• Provide expert guidance on Appian best practices, ensuring alignment with enterprise engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of active Appian experience with deep expertise in enterprise-wide enablement.
• Hands-on development experience with Appian.
• Experience with Autoscale techniques and designing high throughput applications.
• Proven experience in developing workflow-driven and case-based applications in large-scale environments.
• Strong understanding of platform security, integrations, and data access patterns, along with hands-on experience in API development.
• Experience in AI Modeling and effective utilization of Appian's AI capabilities.
• This role operates in a HIPAA-regulated healthcare environment, requiring strong discipline around security, compliance, auditability, and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Appian Certified Lead Developer or Appian Certified Architect or equivalent platform certification.

Work from Home (WFH) Requirements

• Must have a high-speed DSL or cable modem for home office. In California, associates or contractors working from home will be reimbursed for their internet expenses.
• A minimum speed of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
• Satellite and Wireless Internet service is not permitted for this role.
• A dedicated workspace free from interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Travel

Although this is primarily a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be necessary.

Compensation

The starting base pay for this full-time role ranges from $156,600 - $215,400 annually, based on geographic location and individual qualifications. This position may also offer a bonus incentive plan based on company and individual performance.
