Lead Software Engineer

Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to drive development of a high-impact, customer-facing digital portal. This role is heavily focused on front-end architecture (Angular) while also owning full-stack delivery across APIs and backend services.

This position has a strong emphasis on AI-driven development, including spec-driven engineering and tools like CoPilot, aligned with broader AI strategy initiatives. You’ll partner closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable front-end and back-end portal solutions
• Own front-end architecture and serve as the lead design engineer on the project
• Drive AI development initiatives, including spec-driven development and tools like CoPilot
• Build and enhance a customer-facing digital portal experience
• Design and support APIs that enable secure application architecture and data flow
• Partner with Product Owners and Architects to align technical execution with business goals
• Take ownership of delivery, driving results within timelines and budgets
• Mentor developers and promote engineering best practices across the team
• Coordinate with offshore teams to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines
• Establish and maintain standards for code quality, testing, and deployment
• Support Agile delivery through troubleshooting, defect triage, and continuous improvement
• Guide tagging, metadata, and component usage to support personalization and accessibility

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities
• Strong front-end expertise with Angular
• Experience with Node.js, GraphQL, Typescript, SQL, and Java
• Strong understanding of API design and secure application architecture
• Experience driving AI-related development initiatives (spec-driven, CoPilot, etc.)
• Proven ability to take ownership, speak up, and drive results
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
• Experience mentoring developers and leading cross-functional collaboration
• Must be interested in converting to a full-time role

Nice to Have

• Experience in Agile or SAFe environments
• AWS and web security experience (Akamai WAF)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and testing tools (JUnit, Mockito, SoapUI)
