About the role
Primary Purpose of the Role
Lead the structural engineering team in the design, detailing, and technical support for the fabrication of offshore structures, ensuring compliance with standards, safety, schedules, and costs. Act as the focal point between projects, production, quality, and clients.

Key Accountabilities
- Design and analyze structures for FPSO projects, ensuring structural integrity and safety in marine environments.
- Perform structural calculations and performance evaluations using advanced engineering software.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, to ensure effective integration of structures into projects.
- Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and necessary project documentation.
- Conduct field inspections and assessments of existing structures' integrity.
- Ensure that projects comply with applicable local and international standards and regulations.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and other team members throughout all project phases.
- Lead and coordinate the structural engineering team (designers, draftsmen, and detailers).
- Develop and review structural designs, fabrication drawings, and bill of materials.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., Eurocode, AISC, local codes) and client requirements.
- Validate structural calculations, material selection, welding specifications, and surface treatments.
- Provide technical support to production and quality control during fabrication and assembly.
- Implement and maintain engineering processes and best practices (revision control, templates, checklists).
- Manage schedules, prioritize deliverables, and allocate team resources.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure correct specification and availability of materials.
- Participate in client meetings, technical site visits, field surveys, and non‑conformance resolution.
- Assess technical risks and propose mitigation actions; ensure safety requirements are met in design.
- Train and develop the team’s technical competencies; perform performance evaluations.
- Manage technical documentation, ensuring revision traceability and archiving according to procedures.
- Proven background in industrial structures, deck stations, modules, platforms, gantries or similar projects.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with high‑volume parts and welding/industrial painting processes.
- Knowledge of quality control, non‑destructive testing (NDT), and assembly procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Postgraduate specialization in structures/steel structures is desirable.
- Minimum 6–10 years’ experience in design and fabrication of metal structures, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
- Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., SAC, RAM, SAP2000, ANSYS) and detailing/3D software (Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, SolidWorks).
- Experience reading and producing shop drawings (DWG), cutting lists, nesting, and welding procedure documents.
- Familiarity with national and international standards applicable to design and fabrication of metal structures.
