As Lead Technical Writer, you’ll be the voice of clarity in a complex, highly technical product space. You’ll own the end-to-end content strategy for n8n’s documentation and learning resources — from technical deep dives to onboarding flows and integration how-tos. Mission
- Define and own our documentation vision — making it intuitive, empowering, and comprehensive for all technical users.
- Write and ship high-quality, user-centered docs — from quickstart guides to advanced API walkthroughs and real-world use cases.
- Mentor and lead a growing team of technical writers, helping them prioritize, grow, and deliver exceptional content.
- Work across teams — from Engineering and Product to DevRel and Support — to ensure our docs answer the right questions at the right time.
- Build repeatable systems for writing, reviewing, and maintaining docs as a living, breathing part of our product.
- Elevate the voice and tone of n8n docs: clear, helpful, and friendly — no jargon, no fluff.
- Support our community of contributors, making it easy to collaborate and uphold high content standards.
Must-have
- You’ve spent 5+ years creating documentation for technical products as well as experience leading and setting the overall strategy.
- Understand how docs can impact adoption and engagement, and you know your way around important metrics
- You’re experienced with Docs-as-Code, and tools like Git, Markdown, and static site generators.
- You’re comfortable diving into technical concepts — APIs, JavaScript, JSON — and exploring tools like n8n hands-on to understand how things work.
- You write with structure and clarity, but also bring warmth and accessibility to your tone.
Nice-to-have
- Background in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience working in open-source or with developer communities.
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools or low-code platforms.
