About the Job

As a Lead Technical Writer, your mission is to work with and capture technical artifacts from engineering project teams. You will deliver accurate, updated, and easy-to-understand documentation on material both for internal use and external customer delivery. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and various subject matter experts to understand the lifecycle of complex projects, identify knowledge and information gaps, and use documentation to close the gap. You may act as an editor to material written by engineers or work to incorporate specific inputs from the engineering team into more comprehensive documents. The technical writer will play a foundational role in raising and setting the bar for tone, voice, and quality across our written artifacts.

You will identify relevant stakeholders and lead them through a documentation roadmap with established key milestones and targets. This will require an in‑depth understanding of which engineers are relevant to documentation, and what an organized effort toward collaboration entails. You are to ensure that stakeholders are engaged at the right time, and you will guide them towards a polished and finished document that plainly meets customer needs. Finally, you will also work with Program Management to ensure contract deliverables are completed on‑time and to a standard of excellence.

Written content artifacts may include: requirement documentation, technical manuals, operational manuals, maintenance manuals, procedures, checklists, templates, user guides, troubleshooting guides, and release notes. You will partner with account and engineering teams across all phases of development to ensure users have the right documentation available.

What You'll Do

  • Generate, review, and edit documentation that is user‑focused – whoever that user may be. Work with engineering and operations to deliver documentation of a consistently high‑quality.
  • Contribute to Anduril's technical writing toolkit – working on everything from style guides to the documentation lifecycle and review process, and also relevant software tool procurement through definition requirements for things like authoring and publishing tools.
  • Evaluate and prioritize tasks required to successfully support product documentation efforts and keep them on track. Help drive the best decision for the company by using a data‑driven approach and consider input from stakeholders to ensure well‑informed decisions. Fill gaps that represent risks to the documentation roadmap.
  • Communicate and help manage expectations. Ensure risks are noted with adequate time, mitigations are identified, and resources are allocated.
  • Help build a culture of technical documentation by creating process and training for others to contribute content.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation with a portfolio of work ready to showcase your talent and skills.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation and working with engineers to complete writing tasks.
  • Experience building content in a variety of content authoring tools.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on technical subjects.
  • Must thrive with autonomy and responsibility, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Passion for excellent documentation and user experience.
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing technical user‑facing documentation.
  • Previous experience creating technical documentation for Defense and Intelligence clients.

Salary Range

$113,000 – $149,000 USD (estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors; actual offer may vary based on experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations)
