Visiting Lecturer "User Experience Design"
FH JOANNEUM - International Management
About the role
Course Description
This course is offered in the first semester of the master's degree program in the "Interaction Design" specialization.
The course introduces user experience as a strategic design approach and discusses the importance of user needs, usage contexts, and expectations for design decisions. Students learn to collect and analyze user behavior and usage situations and use this information as a basis for UX concepts. The focus is on developing user-oriented interaction and content structures, designing early prototypes for investigating usage scenarios, and conducting and evaluating user tests. In addition, accessibility and inclusion are taken into account, and mental models and perception psychology are incorporated into solution development.
Participants acquire the ability to identify and analyze UX-relevant user and system requirements, apply methods for collecting and interpreting user behavior, and derive design solutions. They learn to align information and navigation structures for comprehensibility and accessibility, to test design ideas with simple evaluations, and to integrate aspects of accessibility into UX processes in a targeted manner. In addition, they understand the iterative UX design process, define and measure UX goals, and use them to monitor success.
