About the role

About Derby Copeland Capital

Derby Copeland Capital is a New York City–based private equity real estate investment and lending platform founded in 2015, focused on originating and structuring middle-market debt and equity investments across the capital stack. The firm originates, owns, and services first mortgages, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, and direct equity investments, and operates a vertically integrated platform with in-house property management and construction capabilities.

We are seeking a Loan Servicer to join our team. This role is a critical, integral part of the entire loan servicing lifecycle. This position offers direct exposure to the construction and draw process, requiring a candidate who can balance financial precision with a technical understanding of project development. This is an in-office role based in New York City (five days per week).

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Servicing: Act as one of the point of contacts for the whole loan servicing process, ensuring seamless communication between borrowers, lenders, and external partners.
  • Construction & Draw Management: Review and process construction draw requests, verifying budget alignment, lien waivers, and third-party inspection reports.
  • Budget Oversight: Monitor project budgets and "sources and uses" to ensure loans remain "in balance" throughout the lifecycle of the development.
  • Escrow Administration: Manage and reconcile interest reserves, tax, and insurance escrows.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Credit and Asset Management teams to transition files from closing to active servicing.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in loan servicing, commercial real estate, or construction finance preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of the construction draw process and basic construction terminology is highly preferred.
  • Financial Literacy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking budgets and loan schedules.
  • Detail Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills; you will be managing high-volume documentation where accuracy is paramount.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for professional interaction with borrowers and site inspectors.

Compensation

  • Expected annual base salary range: $75,000-$80,000
  • Additional compensation: Discretionary bonus and benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
