About the role

Job Purpose

The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring that maintenance standards and equipment design meet required quality levels to guarantee safe and reliable operations throughout the entire asset lifecycle. This role is also critical in implementing the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) at the Baarle-Nassau site and ensuring all activities comply with GMP regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define maintenance strategies for equipment, including calibration (corrective, preventive, and inspection-based maintenance), and continuously improve them based on operational feedback
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure equipment meets required quality and reliability standards
  • Review root cause analyses of equipment and engineering systems and support trend analysis investigations
  • Develop spare parts strategies, including obsolescence management
  • Create job plans based on failure modes and business risk assessments
  • Act as a key/super user of the CMMS system
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance
  • Own and manage the Site Equipment SAMACO (Safety Maintenance and Control) program
  • Reduce safety risks through simplification and error-proofing of equipment
  • Improve equipment reliability through design modifications
  • Act as a technical partner for capital investments, equipment validation, and process engineering
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure consistency and standardization of engineering processes
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects and improvement initiatives

Professional Competencies

  • Strong focus on safety and ability to work in a structured, protocol-driven environment
  • In-depth knowledge of Safety Maintenance and Control (SAMACO) programs
  • Strong expertise in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance
  • Experience as a key user of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • High attention to detail and ability to balance end-user perspective with engineering insight

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (HBO level) in Engineering or a related field
  • Languages: Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals or isotope manufacturing
