About

We are seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our team within a leading industrial manufacturing and power generation company operating in the Mpumalanga region. This position involves developing and managing maintenance schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring the smooth execution of maintenance activities in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment.

Missions

• Develop comprehensive maintenance plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective activities to optimize equipment reliability.
• Prepare and manage daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance schedules, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
• Coordinate labor, tools, spare parts, and contractor requirements to facilitate efficient maintenance execution.
• Plan and oversee major plant shutdowns, refurbishments, and installation projects, ensuring all resources and safety protocols are in place.
• Manage work orders, maintenance records, and documentation within ERP/CMMS systems to support accurate tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

• Create detailed schedules for routine and special maintenance activities, including shutdowns and outages.
• Prioritize work orders based on operational criticality and safety considerations.
• Ensure all job packs include scope, drawings, permits, and safety documentation.

Shutdowns, Refurbishments & Installations

• Coordinate major plant shutdowns and annual maintenance outages to minimize operational disruptions.
• Support refurbishment projects and plant upgrades to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment, monitoring critical activities and resource allocation.

Work Order & ERP Administration

• Manage work orders and maintenance history within ERP/CMMS systems, ensuring data accuracy.
• Update task lists, job plans, and equipment records regularly.
• Track job completion, generate close-out documentation, and maintain audit-ready records.

Materials & Spares Coordination

• Collaborate with procurement and stores to ensure timely availability of parts and materials.
• Identify critical spares and long-lead items to support maintenance planning.
• Support inventory optimization and stock management initiatives.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, engineering, and operations teams.
• Coordinate internal artisans and external contractors to execute maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
• Participate in planning and production meetings to align maintenance activities with operational goals.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

• Monitor schedule adherence, backlog, downtime, and resource utilization.
• Prepare KPI reports and dashboards to track maintenance performance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce downtime and operational costs.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure maintenance planning complies with statutory inspections and safety standards.
• Verify permits, risk assessments, and isolation procedures are incorporated into job plans to uphold safety protocols.
