Maintenance Technical Writer (CMMS / Maximo) – Onsite

About the Role

We’re hiring a Maintenance Technical Writer to support a large-scale maintenance operation by improving and standardizing documentation inside a CMMS (Maximo).

This is NOT a traditional desk-only writing role. You will work closely with technicians and engineers to ensure maintenance procedures reflect real-world execution.

If you’ve worked in maintenance, reliability, or as a planner, and have experience documenting processes, this is a strong fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Create and update preventive maintenance (PM) work orders and job plans in Maximo
• Review and validate procedures against OEM manuals and technical documentation
• Ensure labor estimates, task sequencing, and job steps reflect actual field work
• Standardize documentation to align with best practices and internal standards
• Work directly with maintenance technicians, supervisors, and engineers
• Support CMMS data entry, document control, and configuration updates
• Improve clarity and usability of maintenance documentation

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of maintenance experience (industrial, manufacturing, facilities, etc.)
• Experience with Maximo or another CMMS platform
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to translate technical work into clear instructions
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment (equipment access, walking floor, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF tools

Nice to Have

• Experience as a Maintenance Planner or Reliability Technician
• Background in PM program development or CMMS improvements
• Knowledge of Lean Maintenance or RCM
• Trade certification or Associate’s degree (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)

• Pay: $33.00 per hour
• Work Location: In person
• Schedule:
  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Mon–Fri)
  • Option for 4x10 schedule (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• Duration: 12+ month contract (strong extension potential)
