About the role
About Our Client
Our client is one of Canada’s most recognized consumer packaged goods companies, a proudly Canadian, independently owned organization with deep roots in communities from coast to coast. For over a century, it has brought some of the country’s best known brands to life through a network of modern manufacturing facilities, distribution centres, and field teams that serve tens of thousands of customers every day.
The company is in the midst of an exciting evolution: investing heavily in automation and advanced warehousing, expanding its portfolio of products, and sharpening its focus on sustainability, community impact, and a modern employee experience. At the centre of that journey is a commitment to building a diverse, inclusive workplace where people at every level can do meaningful work and grow their careers.
The Opportunity
The Director, Talent Acquisition (TA) will own the national TA strategy for a large, multi site organization, spanning high volume hourly, skilled trades, plant and field leadership, and corporate roles.
This role is ideal for a strategic TA leader who enjoys the challenge of high-volume unionized hiring, campus and early talent, and building national standards that work on the ground.
Reporting to a senior HR leader, you will:
- Set a 1–3-year TA roadmap aligned with growth, automation investments and evolving skill needs.
- Lead and develop a distributed TA team embedded with the business across Canada.
- Bring to life a “high tech so we can be high touch” philosophy, using technology and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and human connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a national TA strategy that supports seasonal peaks, future skills, and workforce planning.
- Lead the TA operating model: clarify roles, standardize core processes, and drive consistent delivery across regions.
- Modernize TA technology and platform partnerships (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed), using data and labour market insights to inform decisions.
- Re imagine campus and early career programs, building pipelines from universities, colleges and technical schools into key roles.
- Help shape a compelling employer value proposition and embed DEI into sourcing, shortlisting and selection.
Who You Are
- A strategic TA builder with experience in large, multi site, operationally intensive environments (CPG, food & beverage, retail, QSR, logistics or similar).
- Comfortable spanning high volume hourly recruiting, skilled trades/technical roles, and salaried/leadership hiring.
- Tech savvy and data driven, with a pragmatic view of AI—where it helps workflows and candidate experience, not where it replaces judgment.
- Experienced in or exposed to unionized environments and the realities of seasonal volume hiring.
- A confident leader and coach who can work autonomously, influence senior stakeholders, and develop TA managers and specialists.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in HR, Business or related field.
- 8–10+ years of progressive TA experience, including leadership of teams; national or multi-region scope strongly preferred.
- Track record of designing or transforming TA strategies in high volume, multi site organizations.
- Experience with enterprise ATS/HR systems and recruitment analytics.
- Demonstrated commitment to DEI in hiring.
Location & Work Model
- Based in Toronto (corporate office east of the downtown core), with a hybrid in office schedule.
- Regular GTA travel to a major operations hub; occasional travel to Western Canada and Quebec.
