The Opportunity
At BC Ferries, we connect coastal communities and support essential travel across British Columbia. Behind every sailing is a strong digital backbone. We’re looking for a Manager, Cloud Operations to help lead and evolve our cloud environment to support critical business and customer-facing systems.
In this role, you will lead the planning, delivery, and optimization of cloud-based environments supporting both capital projects and ongoing operations. You’ll oversee a diverse cloud ecosystem—including compute, storage, networking, databases, and enterprise SaaS platforms—ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
Working closely with cross-functional teams including Enterprise Architecture, Project Delivery, and Application SMEs, you’ll ensure cloud environments are delivered efficiently, securely, and aligned with business needs.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Operations & Infrastructure, this role is integral to the achievement of company objectives, and you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:
- Provide expertise, insight, leadership and supervision to IT and contract staff in the deployment of production and preproduction hosting environments
- Leading the provisioning, deployment, and support of production and pre-production cloud environments
- Managing capacity planning, forecasting, and resource scheduling to ensure optimal performance and availability
- Monitoring cloud usage metrics, analyzing trends, and delivering insights through dashboards and reporting
- Collaborating with project and operational teams to design, refine, and deliver infrastructure solutions
- Evaluating and approving environment requests, ensuring solutions are right-sized, cost-effective, and aligned with standards
- Provide leadership and input into software and hardware lifecycle management (evergreen or waterfall) reporting and replacement project planning
- Facilitating the transition of environments into sustainment, production, and disaster recovery
- Maintaining accurate infrastructure documentation and contributing to CMDB repositories
- Ensuring environments meet performance, reliability, and service level requirements
- Identifying and mitigating security and operational risks within cloud environments
- Ensuring compliance with organizational policies, standards, and best practices
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of IT professionals and contractors
What you bring to the team
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems or an IT related discipline from a recognized college or technical school and/or significant professional experience in Information Technology
- 4+ years of experience leading diverse technical teams
- 4+ years of experience administering Microsoft Azure and M365, leading cloud migrations, and managing enterprise SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
- 1+ year of experience in DevOps toolsets

Additional Information
The target salary range: $98,500 – $123,100 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and experience, and on internal equity.
