In this position, you will report to the Calgary-based VP Drilling & Completions, work closely with the Bogota-based Completions & Workover Operations Manager, and lead the Calgary- and Bogota-based Completions & Workover Engineering team. This pivotal role will have accountability to identify and champion continuous improvement opportunities and drive significant organizational culture change, in support of achieving well completions and workover functional excellence. Objectives will be focused on elevating standards for completions and workover engineering design and planning activities – to achieve consistent best practices and deliver high quality results for our internal clients across asset areas.

What you will do:

  • Define and implement standardized practices and procedures, optimize workflows, and promote related team engagement and adoption.
  • Mandate and provide guidance for detailed design and project assurance/readiness reviews – in order to validate completions and workover plans, identify potential gaps, remove barriers, spearhead proactive resolution actions, and mitigate risks.
  • Solicit internal client and external vendor feedback, measure performance, ensure project lookbacks are completed, and confirm lessons learned are documented and leveraged.
  • Share technical knowledge, expertise and experience to challenge and develop our Completions Engineering talent base.
  • Model and reinforce a technically disciplined and safety-minded work environment.
  • Form and foster significant cross-border and interdisciplinary stakeholder relationships.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 15 to 20 years of progressive well completions/workover engineering experience.
  • A track record of success in a formal completions functional management and leadership role.
  • A change agent work style, and a reputation for leading, engaging, influencing and motivating teams to achieve demonstrable step changes and efficiency.
  • International conventional completions experience is preferred.
  • Background working in South/Latin American locations is a distinct advantage.
  • Spanish written and verbal language skills are an asset.
  • Solid decision making and risk analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Ability to make effective, reliable and appropriate decisions and judgments.

Where you’ll be working:

This position is located in our Corporate Headquarters at 2700 Eighth Ave Place, West Tower in Calgary, Alberta T2P 1G1, Canada.
