Position Summary:

The West Coast Engineering Manager is responsible for site engineering activities at our West Coast production sites. This role leads engineering and capital project-related activities at both our Manufacturing facility in San Fernando, CA, and our Packaging facility in Valencia, CA. The Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and resides on the local site leadership teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of site capital projects.
  • Responsible for the site's capital planning and forecasting activities, including the development and execution of the site's capital master plan.
  • Assists the site controls engineer in developing mid-and long-term controls, automation, and technology plans, which are translated into the site's capital plans.
  • Guides and coaches the site-based engineering team to scope and deliver the site's capital plan, leveraging corporate engineering resources as required.
  • Is ultimately responsible for leading the site's capital projects to ensure smooth transition into operation through effective project execution and collaboration.
  • Provides coaching and influence to the Maintenance organization to ensure assets are maintained throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensures the use of the Pharmavite Engineering Project Management process and good practice principles for project delivery.
  • Participates in vendor selection, business process development, continuous improvement, and problem resolution.
  • Manages the development of all manufacturing technology, packaging, controls, automation, and equipment to ensure economical and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for departmental budget planning and establishing goals and targets for the site's Engineering team. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Requires a four-year college or university degree, preferably in an engineering discipline, or at least 10 years of experience in a project engineering-related role.
  • An advanced degree or certifications may be substituted for professional experience.

Certification:

  • Not required, but a Professional Engineering (PE) accreditation is preferred
  • PMP Certification is preferred

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing engineering and project engineering. Experience in a supervisory or managerial role in the pharmaceutical, nutritional, food, or related industry.
  • Additionally, experience in process-related industries is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in commissioning, equipment verification commissioning and qualification
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and having a working knowledge of cGMP’s
  • Demonstrated experience in process equipment design and installation (e.g., pumps, pipework fabrication)
  • Mentors and coaches across disciplines and collaborating across the safety, maintenance, and technical teams
  • Knowledge of ‘Process Safety’ (PSM) is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization
  • Good critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced computer skills required in Excel and PowerPoint to develop and create presentations and analyze data

Physical Requirements:

  • General office environment. Ability to move about the office and production areas.

Environment:

  • Exposure to disagreeable elements is limited.

Safety:

  • The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering their own or others' health or safety.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for up to six employees.

National Target Base Pay Range: $117,000.00 - $195,000.00

The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $130,000.00 - $216,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment.
