About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras (TRYPO) seeks a creative, organized, and collaborative professional to serve as Manager of Digital Marketing and Community Events.
This role supports both UniSound (a coalition of youth music organizations in Pittsburgh administered by TRYPO) and TRYPO youth music programs through digital storytelling, social media management, and event execution. Photography and videography are essential parts of this role. This position regularly captures high-quality images and video at concerts, rehearsals, and community events for digital marketing and archival use.
This position dedicates approximately 20–25 hours per week to UniSound and 15–20 hours per week to TRYPO, balancing creative content development with hands-on event coordination. Occasional Saturday rehearsals and evening/weekend events are required.
This role is supported by a collaborative team and priorities shift seasonally between digital marketing and event coordination. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys both creating content and bringing events to life, someone who is as comfortable scheduling social media as they are setting up for a community program or concert.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
UniSound Responsibilities (20-25 hours/week)
This position serves as the UniSound Program Manager, overseeing the work of UniSound in collaboration with the UniSound Steering Committee. Responsibilities include:
Digital Marketing & Communications
- Manage UniSound’s social media accounts across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Plan and maintain content calendars in Loomly
- Create posts, short-form videos, graphics, and captions
- Monitor engagement and respond to messages as appropriate
- Track performance metrics and recommend improvements
Website & Email Communications
- Maintain the UniSound website (WordPress), including member listings and community calendars
- Publish blog posts and partner spotlights
- Draft and distribute newsletters in Mailchimp
- Compile quarterly “Opportunity Round Ups” featuring regional events
Community Coordination
- Coordinate monthly virtual Steering Committee meetings and keep Steering Committee apprised of developments between meetings as needed
- Maintain communication and foster relationships with member organizations; attend their events, capturing media for promotional and archival support
- Support onboarding of new partners
- Assist with reporting and documentation for grants and initiatives
- Supervise UniSound volunteers and paid instructors
- Lead logistics for UniSound programs, including:
- Primary point of contact for Beckom-Freeman Teaching Artists (BTAR) Program
- Coordinate Instrument Petting Zoos (Hiring teaching artists, venue communication and scheduling, on-site setup and breakdown)
TRYPO Responsibilities (15–20 hours/week)
This position supports management of social media accounts and organizes/supports concerts and events. Responsibilities include:
Social Media & Content Creation
- Support social media management for TRYPO and Youth Chamber Connection (YC2)
- Capture photography and video at concerts, rehearsals, and events and organize content into digital asset libraries
- Assist with seasonal campaigns and promotional content
Front-of-House Support
Assist with concert operations, including:
- Ticketing and guest check-in
- Merchandise sales
- Volunteer coordination
- Patron engagement
- Event photography and videography
Fundraising & Special Events
- Lead planning and execution of fundraising events (three or four TRYPO TRYVIA events, one benefit dinner Fall 2026, one or two house concerts and donor gatherings)
- Developing event timelines and logistics
- Coordinating vendors, venues, volunteers, and partners
- Managing registration and guest communication
- Overseeing setup, execution, and breakdown
- Maintaining event records and reporting
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in digital marketing, communications, event planning, or related work
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Photography experience and comfort capturing live events (advanced smartphone photo skills at minimum/ amateur or semi-pro photography is a plus!)
- Strong time-management and communication skills
- PA Act 33/34 and FBI clearances (required before start)
- Technology & AI Expectations: This role operates in a technology-forward environment. Candidates should:
- Be comfortable using digital platforms and communication tools
- Demonstrate openness to learning and using artificial intelligence tools
- Be willing to experiment with emerging technologies that support creativity, efficiency, and innovation
Preferred
- Experience creating short-form video content
- Familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using WordPress
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, Loomly, or similar tools
- Event planning or fundraising event experience
- Experience supervising volunteers
- Knowledge of Pittsburgh’s arts or youth-serving landscape
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 30–40 pounds
- Ability to stand and move during events and performances
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications (TRYPO responsibilities) and Executive Director (UniSound responsibilities)
- Location: Pittsburgh, PA On-site/Hybrid
- Schedule: 40 hours/week, some evening and weekend hours for events and rehearals; hybrid work environment (some remote, some in-person). Schedule can flex during event weeks and on remote days - we care about work/life balance.
- Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
