About

The Manager of Engineering, under the direction of the Director of Public Works and Infrastructure Services, is primarily responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and oversight of the Town’s Engineering Division and ensures effective delivery of engineering services.

This position oversees long-term infrastructure planning, capital project prioritization, municipal servicing review, and engineering standards. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supports corporate initiatives, prepares reports for senior leadership and Council, and fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture.

The incumbent serves as a key technical advisor to the Director of Public Works & Infrastructure Services, providing expertise on infrastructure lifecycle management, development applications, and municipal servicing strategies.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, including project management and staff supervision.
  • Experience in long-term infrastructure planning, capital program management, and development review.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and decision-making skills, particularly in capital planning and asset management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing Council reports and presenting technical material to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of municipal legislation, engineering standards, procurement processes, and health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, resolve complex issues, and guide staff through change.
