Summary

The Manager of Rail Infrastructure Design is responsible for overseeing the design and development of railway infrastructure projects. This includes managing a team of engineers and designers, coordinating with stakeholders and clients, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, as well as identifying and implementing innovative design solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team in the preparation, review, and delivery of design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Perform comprehensive technical reviews of design packages including electrical drawings, short circuit analyses, arc flash evaluations, and coordination studies to ensure system integrity and safety.
  • Oversee the standardization and accuracy of all capital project documentation, justification memoranda, and procurement records to ensure procedural transparency and audit readiness.
  • Elevate team performance through objective professional standards and proactive mentorship to cultivate a high performance, results oriented environment.
  • Uphold system wide conformance to industry and agency standards including AREMA, IEEE, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and IEC 61850.
  • Direct cross functional coordination with internal Rail Operations departments and external stakeholders to synchronize design interfaces and ensure seamless project integration.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Six years of progressive experience in the management of engineering, design, or construction projects within infrastructure, utilities, or transportation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and leading cross functional teams through complex organizational or technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with electrical power systems, relay protection, SCADA, or substation design is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Professional Engineer license and PMP certification are preferred.
