About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AI Prototyping Engineer to design, develop, and implement cutting‑edge AI solutions for manufacturing environments. In this role, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams—including product development, operations, data science, and IT—to translate innovative AI concepts into robust, production‑ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Prototype Development: Design and build AI prototypes (e.g., predictive maintenance, quality inspection, process optimization) tailored to manufacturing use‑cases.
• Software Engineering: Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code using modern programming languages and frameworks (Python, C++, Java, etc.).
• System Integration: Deploy AI models into existing manufacturing pipelines, ensuring seamless integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, and IoT devices.
• Collaboration: Partner with domain experts, data engineers, and product managers to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and refine solutions.
• Validation & Testing: Conduct rigorous testing (unit, integration, performance) and evaluate model efficacy against real‑world data.
• Production Transition: Lead the hand‑over of validated prototypes to production teams, providing documentation, training, and support for ongoing operation.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest AI research, tools, and best practices; propose enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.

Required Qualifications

Requirement	Details
Education	Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience	3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML development and deployment in industrial or manufacturing settings.
Technical Skills	• Proficiency in Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn) and/or C++/Java. • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. • Familiarity with data pipelines, SQL/NoSQL databases, and version control (Git). • Knowledge of edge computing, OPC-UA, PLC programming, or similar industrial protocols is a plus.
Soft Skills	• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
Language	Fluency in English (written & spoken). German or French is advantageous but not mandatory.
