About the role
The successful Manufacturing Designer | Industrial Engineering co-op student will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects that require creative solutions to aid fabrication and assembly of all Tigercat product groups. Projects will utilize CAD to developing custom tooling, fixturing and material handling devices that improve overall safety and quality of Tigercat equipment.

Role Overview
To excel in this role, you will need strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement custom tooling and material handling devices
- Design heavy duty, welded steel fabrications
- Detail drawing and bill of material creation and maintenance
- Manage the outsourcing of PSRs on manufacturing equipment
- Coordination of related design changes with Manufacturing
- Support Lean Practices in 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvements, value stream mapping and visual controls
- Solicit and analyze feedback from shop employees to evaluate results
- Calibrate, validate and maintain tools and testing equipment and certify lifting devices
Qualifications (Experience/Skills)
- Pursuing a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree, or Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist Diploma
- Experience or a strong desire to be involved in machine design and component detailing
- Familiarity with 3D modeling (SolidWorks)
- Comprehensive understanding of drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
- Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate in a language used in the areas of the world where Tigercat machines operate is a strong asset
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to taking on challenging technical tasks
- Ability to quickly comprehend new concepts, processes and systems

- Wages will vary ($26 - $29 per hour), and commensurate with the number of years of your program that you have completed

- Please note there are no remote or hybrid co-op positions available
- The Cambridge & Brantford locations are accessible by public transportation, however your own transportation is required for travel to machine test sites, other plants etc.
