About The Role
Beyond is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to create clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation for our proprietary hardware and software solutions.
This role is central to how we communicate complex technical information across the organization and to external stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with engineering, field teams, and leadership to produce high-quality documentation while also owning document control processes and systems.
This position combines technical writing, content strategy, and document management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both creating content and organizing it for long-term usability and scalability.
Occasional travel to Blackfalds, Nisku, and field locations is required.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation & Content Development • Develop and maintain user manuals, technical guides, and process documentation for hardware and software systems • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for both technical and non-technical audiences • Collaborate with engineers, field staff, and subject matter experts to gather and validate information • Create supporting visuals, diagrams, and illustrations to enhance understanding • Produce internal and external communication materials, including presentations and web content
Content Strategy & Continuous Improvement • Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines • Organize content using clear information architecture to ensure accessibility and scalability • Continuously review and improve documentation to ensure accuracy, relevance, and usability • Create and maintain revision histories, release notes, and version tracking
Document Control & Content Management • Own and manage document control processes, including version control and approval workflows • Maintain and organize the electronic document management system (SharePoint or equivalent) • Ensure documentation complies with corporate standards and records retention policies • Support audits and ensure documentation integrity across system
Tools & Technologies
Experience With Or Familiarity In • Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite • Documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Markdown editors, or similar) • Version control systems (e.g., Git) • Diagramming and design tools (e.g., Visio, Adobe Illustrator, or similar)
Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field • 5–7+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in engineering, technology, or industrial environments • Proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering and operations • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • High attention to detail and commitment to quality • Experience with document control processes and systems
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in the Oil & Gas or industrial sector • Experience documenting integrated hardware and software systems • Familiarity with structured authoring (e.g., DITA, Markdown) • Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments • Advanced Microsoft Word skills in collaborative environments
