About
We are supporting a leading banking client in strengthening its oversight framework around FRTB, specifically focusing on boundary definitions between trading and banking books.
This role sits within a second line of defence function, providing independent review, challenge, and expertise on the classification and treatment of financial instruments under FRTB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess internal policies and procedures related to FRTB boundary definitions
- Oversee monitoring and control frameworks governing the classification of financial instruments, including exceptional cases
- Evaluate and challenge exemption and derogation processes
- Assess whether instruments subject to derogation are clearly defined and justified within internal frameworks
- Ensure that any derogation requests are not driven by control or process deficiencies
- Verify alignment of instruments under review with the bank’s internal risk management framework
- Confirm appropriate segregation between trading and non-trading activities, including governance and ownership of positions
Candidate Profile:
- Market risk Quantitative Analyst with strong exposure to FRTB regulations
- Excellent knowledge of market financial products and associated risks
- Solid understanding of trading vs banking book boundary rules
- Prior experience in similar regulatory or control-focused projects is highly desirable
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to challenge and interpret complex frameworks
- Fluent English required (written and verbal), including report writing
