We are supporting a leading banking client in strengthening its oversight framework around FRTB, specifically focusing on boundary definitions between trading and banking books.

This role sits within a second line of defence function, providing independent review, challenge, and expertise on the classification and treatment of financial instruments under FRTB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess internal policies and procedures related to FRTB boundary definitions
  • Oversee monitoring and control frameworks governing the classification of financial instruments, including exceptional cases
  • Evaluate and challenge exemption and derogation processes
  • Assess whether instruments subject to derogation are clearly defined and justified within internal frameworks
  • Ensure that any derogation requests are not driven by control or process deficiencies
  • Verify alignment of instruments under review with the bank’s internal risk management framework
  • Confirm appropriate segregation between trading and non-trading activities, including governance and ownership of positions

Candidate Profile:

  • Market risk Quantitative Analyst with strong exposure to FRTB regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of market financial products and associated risks
  • Solid understanding of trading vs banking book boundary rules
  • Prior experience in similar regulatory or control-focused projects is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to challenge and interpret complex frameworks
  • Fluent English required (written and verbal), including report writing
