Communication Leader
Decathlon
About the role
About Decathlon Switzerland
Since 1976, Decathlon has been on a mission: "Moving People through the Wonders of Sport." In Switzerland, we are a fast-growing team of 1,000 teammates across 51 stores. We believe in autonomy, vitality, and the power of local impact. To strengthen our presence in the Mittelland / German-speaking region, we are looking for a new Communication Leader.
Your mission
In synergy with national campaigns, you will design and implement the most effective communication strategies to guarantee three pillars: raising awareness, attracting visitors, and developing brand preference. Working closely with a Local Digital Activator (LDA), your focus is external: you go outside the store walls to find new prospects and bring them in. You will turn Decathlon from a "reactive" support to a proactive marketing powerhouse in your region.
Your responsibilities
- Always-on regional strategy: Co-construct yearly communication plans with Store Leaders based on regional data (Kantar/Bari).
- You decide which national operations to amplify and which local activations to create.
- Media and investment management: You are the expert in the marketing mix.
- You manage budgets across paid, owned, and earned media, with a strong focus on digital (Meta, geo-targeting, display) and local media registries.
- Performance tracking: You are KPI-driven.
- Your goal is to increase instore traffic (+5%), boost aided awareness (98%), and grow the membership base (+56k opt-ins for the region).
- Knowledge sharing: You will co-author the "Local Communication Book" with your French-speaking counterpart to centralize best practices and ensure store autonomy over time.
- Field presence: You are not just behind a desk.
- You regularly visit stores in your perimeter to understand local challenges and adapt your plans.
Your profile
- You have significant experience in managing 360° marketing campaigns.
- You are "legitimate" in the eyes of media agencies and registries.
- Digital media (Display, Meta) holds no secrets for you.
- You are used to working with smart budgets.
- You seek solutions, optimize investments, and focus on efficiency.
- Swiss-German and English are mandatory.
- You must be able to navigate the local culture and media landscape fluently.
- French is a strong plus for internal collaboration.
- You are curious, service-oriented, and possess the "vitality" to move projects forward autonomously.
- You are a practicing sportsperson.
Recruitment process
We have designed a 4-step process to ensure that your personality and skills align with our unique culture and the technical demands of the role.
- Step 1: AssessFirst. A behavioral assessment to look beyond your CV and ensure your motivations match our culture of autonomy.
- Step 2: Interviews. Meet Louise (Talent Acquisiton Leader), Thomas (Communication and Marketing Leader), one of your future peers/Store Leaders and Serge (Local Digital Activator)
- Step 3: Language Tests. English (B2/C1) and German (for non-native speakers) to ensure seamless regional colla
