Summary

As a Marketing Manager for Institutional Events, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of dynamic marketing events that enhance awareness, engagement, and demand for Cengage and its innovative products. This position focuses on driving key aspects throughout the event lifecycle, from concept development to audience engagement and on-site execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage various marketing events, including conferences, webinars, field events, sponsored events, and hosted experiences, ensuring alignment with defined marketing goals and strategies.
  • Collaborate in developing creative event concepts and target audiences, while determining suitable themes, formats, and venues.
  • Assist in decision-making regarding event participation including prioritizing which events to support and determining attendance and engagement strategies.
  • Coordinate logistics such as bookings, travel, hospitality, shipping, and all on-site needs.
  • Create and monitor event budgets and track ROI, ensuring spending aligns with approved plans and follow-ups are recorded in SFDC.
  • Oversee event production activities by coordinating with vendors, managing staffing and equipment rentals, and ensuring seamless operations during events.
  • Negotiate with venues and manage agreements with event speakers or talent.
  • Supervise the work of third-party resources, addressing any issues that may arise proactively.
  • Execute short-term assignments using independent judgment within established guidelines while receiving regular supervisory support.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in event marketing and experiential marketing concepts, with demonstrated experience in planning, coordination, and management of on-site activities.
  • Adept at juggling multiple event workstreams, with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, proficient in managing time-sensitive projects, budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal teams and external partners to achieve event objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise judgment on moderately complex assignments within set guidelines and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience in event marketing or field marketing.

Compensation

Cengage Group offers a rewarding Total Rewards package to empower our employees. Individual base pay may vary based on work schedules, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Additionally, this position is eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus program, with a target of 5%. The expected base pay range is $58,300.00 - $75,750.00 USD.
