Mechanical Assistant - County Fair

Qualifications and experience

• Grade 12 or N2 or equivalent qualification is essential
• Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, repair of poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be a distinct advantage
• Fluent in English and a second official language
• Must be computer literate
• Willing and able to work overtime including weekends as required
• Must be willing to work shifts
• Must have reliable transport

Computer Literacy using the following packages:

• Microsoft Office

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

• Routine maintenance on processing equipment
• Attending to all unscheduled processing interruptions resulting from breakdowns
• Installation and maintenance of processing equipment including during weekends
• Adhering to 20 Keys principles and general housekeeping rules

Skills Required:

• Must be computer literate and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent problem solving skills;
• Ability to work under pressure and swift attendance of any maintenance issues
• Basic understanding of the 20 Keys concept is essential;
• Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure;
• It is essential that the successful candidate be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

Other features of the job (traveling, working conditions etc.)

• Due to the nature of the job, extra hours will be required from time to time, which may necessitate working into the evening, public holidays, or on weekends. Travel may be required from time to time.
• Perform other reasonable duties outside the scope of this job description as might be requested by management.
