Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client in Kya Sands is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of high-pressure valves, power packs, and mechanized mining equipment, covering the complete product lifecycle from concept to testing and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design of new equipment, product support, and continuous improvement of existing equipment.
• Oversee the full product/project lifecycle, from conceptualization through to design, manufacturing, testing, and trialling.
• Conduct underground site visits as required.
• Provide technical assistance to production on equipment-related issues.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Develop and test prototypes.
• Check and approve drawings and material lists generated by staff.
• Generate and review product documentation.
• Support production, sales, and suppliers with part numbers, queries, and costings.
• Assist suppliers with drawing, manufacturing, material, or quality-related queries.

Requirements

• B.Eng. Mechanical (M.Eng. advantageous).
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• 10 years experience
• Strong problem-solving and objective-driven mindset.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint essential).
• Exposure to SolidWorks and/or Enterprise PDM beneficial.
• Knowledge of valves and understanding of relevant codes (ASME, ANSI, BS, EN) for pressure vessels, welding, and valves advantageous.
• CAD, FEA, and CFD knowledge would be a strong advantage.
