We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on, resourceful mechanical engineer to work as an engineering manager. This person should be disciplined and dependable in their work habits, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities

Specific to project/team lead

  • Learn, adopt, and enforce the company design process standards
  • Be an excellent communicator and planner, capable of working with and incorporating guidance from the Chief Engineer
  • Lead team(s), individuals, groups to accomplish tasks/projects/etc.
  • Enforce and maintain company culture and promote iterative learning/failing fast to decrease project timelines
  • Although heavily people‑focused, still perform hands‑on work as needed in a small company

General

  • Drive, self‑starting, proactive, outside‑the‑box thinking in a fast‑paced environment, either individually or as part of a small team, communicating effectively with team members and suppliers
  • Perform detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, including concept development, detailed 3D CAD layout and design, and drawing generation
  • Design parts for common manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, injection molding, etc.
  • Assemble and debug complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies
  • Design and perform basic mechanical and thermal experiments
  • Perform basic engineering calculations: tolerance, stress, thermal, energy, and electrical analysis
  • Utilize rapid prototyping (3D printing)
  • Use hand tools and manual/CNC machinery proficiently
  • Focus on design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM)
  • Injection molding experience is a plus
  • Fluency in SolidWorks is required
  • Electrical/electronics assembly/soldering is a plus
  • Design/manufacture of composite aerospace components is a plus
  • Experience with open‑source automation and controls is a plus

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Experience: Mechanical engineering experience – 1 year (preferred)
  • Skills:
    • SolidWorks proficiency
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, injection molding)
    • Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic experiments
    • Familiarity with rapid prototyping, hand tools, CNC machinery
    • Strong communication and planning abilities
    • Ability to lead and enforce company design standards

Compensation

  • Salary range: $100,000 – $135,000 per year (Full‑time)

Location & Relocation

  • Work location: In‑person, Soddy‑Daisy, TN
  • Ability to relocate before starting work (required)
