About the Role
The Fairfield Center is seeking a Court-Referred Mediation Program Manager to oversee and coordinate mediation services across multiple courts in partnership with the Virginia Department of Judicial Services and the Supreme Court of Virginia.
This role is ideal for someone highly organized, self-motivated, and passionate about conflict resolution, court systems, and community-based services. The Program Manager plays a critical role in ensuring mediation services are accessible, efficient, and high-quality for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Mediation Program Oversight
- Supervise day-to-day mediation operations and ensure adequate staffing
- Oversee client intake and screening processes (phone, virtual, in-person)
- Ensure proper scheduling of mediators, clients, and sessions
- Manage case preparation, documentation, and follow-up
- Monitor agreement outcomes and maintain accurate case records
- Oversee data collection, reporting, billing, and invoicing
- Review evaluations and address client concerns
Court Mediation Coordination
Coordinate court-referred mediation services across:
- General District Courts (including Rockingham/Harrisonburg, Augusta, Page, and surrounding areas)
- Juvenile & Domestic Relations Courts
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as liaison between courts, mediators, clients, and state agencies
- Ensuring parties have access to mediation orientation and services
- Maintaining quality and consistency of mediation programs
- Collecting and reporting program data to the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES)
Program Management & Policy Oversight
- Develop and maintain mediation procedures in collaboration with courts and OES
- Ensure compliance with case screening, referral, and reporting standards
- Assign cases to mediators fairly based on availability and qualifications
- Maintain and manage a roster of certified mediators
- Meet with court partners annually to review and improve program processes
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee administrative and support services
- Participate in mediation trainings and sessions (observer or co-mediator)
- Represent the Fairfield Center at meetings and community events
- Assist with outreach and education about mediation services
Required Qualifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, collaborative, and self-directed
- Ability to work on-site in Harrisonburg, VA
Certification Requirement
- Must hold (or obtain within 6 months):
- Virginia mediation certification in General District Court (GDC)
- Juvenile & Domestic Relations (JDR) certification
