Job Description

This role leads electrical construction activities on large data center projects across multiple U.S. locations. The MEP Specialist 2 / Lead Electrical Superintendent oversees field operations, coordinates schedules, enforces safety and quality standards, and uses digital tools to manage documentation and communication. The position focuses heavily on switchgear, UPS systems, and power distribution within data centers and requires frequent travel between project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical construction activities on data center projects, ensuring work aligns with the overall project scope and schedule.
  • Thoroughly understand the project schedule and full scope of work, and communicate expectations clearly to on-site teams and subcontractors.
  • Assist in maintaining the project schedule daily using Touchplan or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with the Project Scheduler and Project Manager to develop and update progress schedules, including two-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate and detailed daily logs using Procore.
  • Coordinate and schedule required inspections with relevant parties and ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare agendas and support regular construction meetings to review progress, issues, and upcoming work.
  • Enforce site safety policies and procedures, including security and visitor access protocols.
  • Monitor and enforce quality standards and workmanship of all electrical and MEP-related installations and finished products.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Site Utilization Plan to optimize logistics, laydown areas, and material flow.
  • Maintain a phone log and other communication records to document key decisions and site activities.
  • Prepare pre-punch list items and support the project team in resolving deficiencies before final punch lists.
  • Work with the Project Site Engineer to load and maintain all pertinent project information and documentation in Procore.
  • Provide site safety training for team members and enforce safety compliance on the project site.
  • Conduct weekly tool-box talks (tool talks) to reinforce safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
  • Secure and manage any required hot work permits and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
  • Support commissioning activities for electrical and MEP systems, including switchgear, UPS, power distribution, CRAH units, and related equipment.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals, safety standards, and schedule requirements.
  • Interpret and work from construction drawings and blueprints to guide installation and troubleshoot issues in the field.

Essential Skills

  • 7–10 years of experience in electrical construction, MEP, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience in power distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, and substation-related work.
  • Experience working on data center projects or other complex commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Proven experience in a site supervisor or management role leading teams on construction projects.
  • Very strong computer skills, including proficiency with construction management software such as Procore and scheduling tools such as Touchplan.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction schedules and integrate field activities with project timelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability in subcontractor management and coordination.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations, including OSHA-related requirements.
  • Strong safety attitude with a commitment to enforcing safety compliance on site.
  • Experience in construction supervision within commercial construction environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with MEP engineering and MEP coordination on large projects.
  • Exposure to mechanical systems, including HVAC and CRAH units, within data center or commercial environments.
  • History data centers is highly beneficial but not strictly required.
  • Experience with commissioning processes for electrical and MEP systems.
  • Project management experience, including planning, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in the field.
  • Experience in commercial construction environments involving complex power distribution and critical systems.
  • Willingness to travel between multiple project sites as needed.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems and integration of electrical and mechanical scopes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in live construction environments.

Work Environment

This is a site-based role supporting large data center construction projects in locations including Northern Virginia, Dallas (TX), Atlanta (GA), Chicago (IL), Mississippi, and Las Vegas. The position requires regular travel between these project sites. Work takes place primarily on active construction sites, involving close coordination with field crews, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers. The environment is fast-paced and schedule-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to project deadlines. You will use digital tools such as Procore for documentation and daily logs, and scheduling platforms like Touchplan for planning and tracking work. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
