Mid-Level Backend Developer (Python/FastAPI)

What You Will Be Doing:

• Designing, building, and maintaining robust backend services and APIs that power data-driven applications.
• Close collaboration with Data and Operations teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions in a containerized, Kubernetes-based environment.
• Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Designing and optimizing database schemas and queries for PostgreSQL.
• Implementing and tuning search functionality with Elasticsearch.
• Building, deploying, and managing applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Managing infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines with Helm, ArgoCD, and GitOps practices.
• Collaborating with Data and Ops teams to integrate backend services with data pipelines and operational tools.
• Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing application performance.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to architectural decisions.

Required Skills

Must Have:

• MUST HAVE a Current and Active Top Secret SCI with Polygraph, as the customer is NOT sponsoring clearances.
• 3–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI (or similar async Python web frameworks).
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes / OpenShift.
• Working knowledge of Helm and ArgoCD (or similar GitOps tools).
• Understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, and security best practices.
• Experience working in hybrid or on-prem cloud environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Self-starter who can take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working closely with Data Engineering and Operations teams.
• Familiarity with observability, logging, and monitoring tools.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile environment.
