Role: Mid-Level Frontend Engineer

As a Mid-Level Frontend Engineer at Cascade, you will be instrumental in designing and developing the user interfaces that power our AI agent platform. Your work will shape interactions for employees on critical processes like onboarding, open enrollment, and leave management, as well as assist HR teams in agent configuration and management.

This hands-on position enables you to write production code on a weekly basis, take ownership of significant features, and help envision how our AI agents interact with users. You will focus on building performant, user-friendly interfaces that effectively communicate complex AI functionalities.

Location & Work Environment

This is a hybrid role based in Bellevue, WA. Candidates in the Greater Seattle area are encouraged to apply, as we promote in-person collaboration four days a week to foster team cohesion and accelerate professional development.

Our Tech Stack

You will work in a dynamic environment that includes:

• Frontend frameworks: React with TypeScript, built on Vite.
• Styling & components: SCSS Modules, including a shared component library (Storybook).
• Data management: TanStack Query for server state, React Router for navigation.
• Testing: Vitest, focusing on behavior-driven coverage.
• AI integration: LLM-powered conversational interfaces and real-time interactions.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop user experiences in React for both employees and HR teams, including dashboards and workflow tools.
• Build responsive, scalable, and accessible UIs supportive of global enterprise use.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to create seamless workflows.
• Work with the AI engineering team to understand LLM capabilities, shaping intuitive frontend experiences.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools to enhance your coding workflow.
• Maintain reusable component libraries and design systems to ensure consistency across products.
• Monitor frontend reliability, conducting performance audits and accessibility checks.
• Engage in quick iterations, balancing speed with maintainability.
• Stay abreast of modern trends in frontend development, adopting new tools that provide real value.

What You'll Need

• 3+ years of experience in frontend development, with a focus on React and TypeScript.
• Strong grasp of frontend architecture, component design, and design systems.
• Ability to create and utilize component libraries or shared UI packages.
• A keen interest in LLM and AI technologies to inform user experience design.
• Proficiency with web fundamentals: semantic HTML, CSS, browser APIs, and accessibility.
• Experience working in collaborative, fast-paced environments with end-to-end feature ownership.
• A strong product sense, prioritizing user experience alongside technical functionality.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to shifting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in your development workflow.
• Experience in building conversational AI interfaces or similar products.
• Background in developing enterprise-grade UIs such as dashboards or automation tools.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and best practices for frontend reliability.
• Experience with performance optimization in large-scale applications.
• A history of taking ownership and leading projects to completion.
