Position Overview

Title: Utilities Project Manager – Electric Utilities (All levels)
Location: Primarily remote in NJ, NY, or PA with site and office visits as needed to S. Hackensack, NJ Headquarters, East Brunswick, NJ office, Utilities client sites, and meetings/training within NJ and PA.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – mostly remote.
Hiring Reason: Continued growth in 2026.

Are you a PM or PMP with Electric Utilities T&D or Substation experience and a hunger to grow this year? Due to increased client requests, Boswell is seeking additional Project Managers or Senior Project Manager(s) with experience in the electric utility industry. Our Utilities Project Management Team is an exciting and fast‑growing team with numerous growth and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Project managers are assigned projects that range from replacing a breaker at a substation to building an entire new substation and/or relocating or upgrading transmission lines (preferred experience up to and exceeding 500 kV).
  • Typical substation projects may be breaker replacement, cap bank heaters, bus work, transformer replacement, control house rehab or replacement, extending a substation yard, or a new substation.
  • Typical transmission projects may include replacing insulators, replacing the OPGW, adding circuits, or a new transmission line.
  • Project managers may also be assigned transmission line routing studies.
  • Client will provide all of the necessary training for both the project management system that is utilized and all of the mandated client safety training and FERC training.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Formal project management training is required with PMP Certification highly preferred (NOTE: This is not a Scrum/Agile/Waterfall PMP role!).
  • An absolute minimum of three (3) years of Utilities project management experience in managing medium to high to extra high voltage substation and/or transmission line projects is required but Project Engineers who work closely with PM’s with 5+ years of similar project oversight are highly valued.
  • Client requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status for site access.

Additional Qualifications (repeated in posting)

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Formal project management training.
  • At least five (5) years of project management experience.
  • Experience in managing substation and/or transmission line projects.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000.00 – $145,000.00 (varies based on experience, education, certifications, skill levels, geographic location, and other compensable factors).
