We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mid-Level Test Automation Engineer to drive the quality assurance strategy for our mission-critical web applications within Federal IT Operations. The successful candidate is a technical specialist with at least 3 years of hands-on professional experience specifically using the Playwright framework and an active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI with Poly ) clearance. This role requires a deep technical ability to architect resilient test suites, integrate them into our CI/CD pipelines, and maintain strict end-to-end traceability. Responsibilities
Automation Strategy & Architecture

- Utilize advanced features like Fixtures, Page Object Models (POM), and Global Setup/Teardown to build reusable test architecture.
Test Management & Traceability
- Own the end-to-end traceability lifecycle.
- Ensure Playwright scripts map to Zephyr Test Cases, and strictly enforce that all Zephyr Test Cases are upstream linked to Service Now User Stories for comprehensive requirement validation.
CI/CD & Dev Ops Integration
- Configure and manage the execution of Playwright suites within the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Jenkins/Git Lab CI), often utilizing Docker containers.
- Utilize Playwright's Trace Viewer and artifacts to debug pipeline failures efficiently.
Hybrid Testing Strategies
- Implement testing strategies that go beyond the UI, utilizing Playwright to intercept network traffic (mocking/stubbing) and validate API endpoints directly.
Code Quality & Mentorship
- Conduct code reviews for junior engineers, ensuring adherence to Type Script best practices and reliable locator strategies (prioritizing getByRole, etc.).
Reporting & Metrics
- Manage the ingestion of JUnit/XML results from the automation pipeline into Zephyr to update execution status, providing leadership with clear, real-time reports on requirement validation status.
Quality Assurance & Validation
- Collaborate with Product Owners to review Service Now User Stories and Acceptance Criteria to ensure testability.
Qualifications
Required
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI (TS/SCI with POLY ).
- Professional Experience: Minimum 5+ years of total progressive experience in IT/QA, with a mandated minimum of 3+ years dedicated professional experience using Playwright.
- Certifications: Current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification, Security+ Certification
Core Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Type Script (including interfaces and types).
- Mastery of JavaScript asynchronous programming patterns (Async/Await).
- Expertise in Playwright's reliable locator strategy (getByRole, getBy Test Id , etc.).
Test Lifecycle Methodology
- Demonstrated professional experience using Zephyr for test case creation, execution planning, and cycle management.
- Proven experience working with Service Now Agile/SDLC modules (User Stories, Sprints).
- Ability to demonstrate the methodology used to successfully link test management results (Zephyr) back to requirement management systems (Service Now).
Version Control
- Advanced Git skills for collaborative development (branching, merging).
Complexity
- Proven ability to solve complex automation problems such as asynchronous handling, dynamic data seeding, and secure authentication flows.
Desired
- Experience implementing Visual Regression testing using Playwright's capabilities.
- Familiarity with connectors or plugins that integrate Jira/Zephyr data with Service Now.
- Experience running Playwright suites on cloud grids (e.g., Browser Stack, Sauce Labs, or AWS Device Farm).
- Relevant certifications, such as ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer or Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA).
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
