Mid to Senior Azure Data Engineer

A South African-based, technology-agnostic data and analytics firm is in the market for a skilled Mid to Senior Azure Data Engineer to join a high-performing data team working on the Microsoft Fabric platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives.

This role is ideal for a data engineer who enjoys hands-on development, modern cloud data platforms, and working closely with analytics and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines on the Microsoft Fabric platform
• Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration processes
• Develop scalable Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Dataflow solutions
• Implement data models to support analytics, BI, and reporting use cases
• Ensure high data quality, reliability, and performance across datasets
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production data pipelines
• Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers, and business stakeholders
• Apply best practices for data governance, security, and performance optimization

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in data engineering (mid to senior level)
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (or strong Azure Synapse / Data Factory experience with readiness to work in Fabric)
• Proficient in SQL and data transformation logic
• Experience building batch and/or near real-time data pipelines
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
• Experience with data quality, monitoring, and production support
