Job Summary

A middle-level accountant (often Senior or Intermediate Accountant) bridges the gap between clerical bookkeeping and senior management, focusing on financial accuracy, month-end closing, and analysis.

Key responsibilities include reconciling complex accounts, preparing financial statements (P&L, balance sheet), conducting variance analysis, assisting with audits/tax filings, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and fixed asset management. Perform variance analysis to explain differences between budgeted and actual figures.
• Reconciliation & Compliance: Reconcile bank statements, intercompany accounts, and ledger discrepancies to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
• Budgeting & Cash Flow: Assist in the annual budgeting cycle, prepare cash flow forecasts, and monitor company expenditures.
• Tax & Audit Support: Assist with internal/external audits, prepare tax documentation, and compute tax liabilities.
• Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Maintain internal controls to secure financial information, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements to accounting procedures.
• Supervision: Oversee clerical accounting staff (AP/AR) and review their work for accuracy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience: Generally 3-6 years of experience in accounting or auditing.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Certifications: A CPA or equivalent certification is often preferred.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
